Chall, Daydreaming...

kallowayOne day, I'll just take a lot of pictures...
I finished Plutone and decided that, before working on Exia and Starfall, I'd see what's in the shoeboxes and whatnot under my desk. The answer is more projects and a lot of stuff to sort, but I managed to clean up a bit for now. Even if everything is stacked nicer, that's a start. I don't remember what I was going to do with all this non-model paint... and I don't know what I should do with it if it's still good... (I feel like I should just start on murals in my garage or something?)
I have a kit on the way that's hopefully going to be part of a contest entry. I'm not expecting/hoping to win or anything, but I want to challenge myself. The contest also ends right around when![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
iddyiddybangbang is due, so maybe a double-deadline will help? (I have multiple ideas for IIBB, we'll see how this goes?)

Rounding Up and Rounding Down

If you want free "romantasy, PNR, and monster romance" stories arriving daily in July, FaRoFeb's FaRoCation is happening again. As always, there will be quantity. (I usually end up liking one or two of them, and it's free. *shrugemoji*)
A couple of weeks back, I asked at the bank about check registers since my previous check orders hadn't come with them and I'd finally finished my last one (dated 2020 on the back - it has still been 2020 all this time!) and was out. Turns out the check printers stopped sending them and they thought check orders still got them. I ended up ordering a 20-pack off Amazon which will possibly last for the rest of my life. (However, I'd just assume share the wealth and if you need one, lmk. They're a bit on the 'for ants' side which doesn't bother me but might be a dealbreaker for you.)
I also still have those Riverside TrekFest goodies if anyone wants them.
The date for the first Gundam Mobile Base Pop-Up USA Tour stop was announced a couple of days ago, for Kentucky at the end of this month. A not-impossible drive, and I put in for the day off just in case. But a Michigan date has been announced for September so I'll do that instead. It's much closer but I'm not sure the drive is any better. (ha!)
Worked on gutters (not mine) yesterday, and went to an estate sale to look at tools. Ended up getting some fine, fine wrenches and other stuff. Well over $100 in stuff for $10; I almost felt a little guilty. (Almost.)
I officially got the airbrush out of its box and tried it! One hurdle, um, hurdled! It will take a few sessions to figure out exactly what I need as far as a set-up goes, but I will definitely need to liberate one of the extra chairs recently unearthed in the barn.

FFT and other FF and other things
Jun. 5th, 2025 02:48 pmtaicharaSo I woke up yesterday evening to the announcement of the long-awaited Final Fantasy Tactics remaster and after all this time, I find I'm kind of mixed feelings about it? Or maybe more accurately, I don't feel as much as I expected/would like to?
But then I can already play multiple iterations of FFT, and also this doesn't look like it's getting half the attention Tactics Ogre Reborn did (just the Collector's Box merch -- which had already sold out by maybe 1am my time last night), and something tastes bad about this finally turning up now that Squenix has basically admitted they're going to be virtually a dead zone for ~2 years, an nuked their global mobile games, and ...
... And, yeah. I'll no doubt get this, but right now I can just play FFTWotL. Or FFTA2, more likely, grand glorious DS game that it is.
All of this, of course, while I'm trying to sort my FF issues and also push some small blocks into place for making my own FF, as well as some other things-related chewing on my brainstem, like:
- Dissidia. I want to poke at (a) Dissidia.
- similarly, a Theatrhythm. probably the first one, pretty sure that one had the dungeon setup I liked more.
- doing incredible violence to basically everything using mtl to read the FFIV novels.
Also I finally after decades have the other volumes of the tiny original FFIV sourcebooks on the way, including the setting book. So I can check that one translation against crazed mtl and see what my brain makes of it (also pictures. it will be nice to actually own the book with the Kain's white magic command screencap in it.)
Unrelated, I finally got a bloody fiction zine put together and made a post over onmakezines about it. Go me. Now keep doing that. Maybe by, oh, making that bloody FF zine.

He does some really interesting surrealism in his i was born in a gay bar show and his dark optimism series. Also, he does some really good cacti.
But mostly my attention turned to his most recent work and the content of his book. He arts queer cowboys that include men in dresses, bipoc, and older men. It's really colorful, I love the blocking, and everything feels so tender. You can decide if it's tender like a bruise or not.

I'd like to buy a print for my birthday.
