Timed challenges are a staple of writing challenges- while some, like NaNoWriMo -have goals like 50,000 words in 30 days, there are much smaller versions like writing 100 words in a week for a drabble community or writing as many words as possible/a complete story in a short amount of time, like the many 15 Minute Ficlets and similar challenges that existed, at least, all the way back into the days of mailing lists.

There are two ways to do this and neither is wrong-

The first is to have a blank file open and start writing/arting/etc. for fifteen minutes as soon as you see the prompt. This is the traditional way, but not the only way.

The second way is to have the prompt in mind and tackle it when you have fifteen minutes available for creating. I know sometimes it can be difficult to get fifteen uninterrupted minutes, so seize the time when you can get it. Neither way is wrong - go with what works for you.

Traditionally, minor editing is permissible before posting, but don't get carried away. If you accidentally run over a minute, that's fine too. It's all on the honor system.

This week's word will be posted shortly!

(Even though it's 'ficlets', art is fine, or any other medium you can think of - 15MinuteMeta?)
